Use and combinations
Elderberry syrup is a drink with a particular taste, dolce, pleasant and above all refreshing, perfect for the summer months. Being concentrated it must be diluted to be appreciated. Dissolved in water (100 ml of product for 1 liter) you get a refreshing drink, slush or popsicle. It can also be used in small quantities as a sweetener instead of sugar, for the preparation of cakes, homemade ice cream, hot drinks or light cocktails, releasing in addition to the sweet note typical of syrups an intense aroma of the freshly picked flower.
Curiosity
The elder (Sambucus nigra), also known as black elderberry or common elderberry, it is a very common wild plant in our territory. The etymology of the name derives from the Greek word we reported, or "flute" probably in relation to the Nordic tradition according to which the magic flute was obtained from the wood of this plant.
During flowering the plant producing a considerable amount of pollen and edible flowers attracting many pollinating insects and butterflies including the pafia (Argynnis paphia).
